Have you heard this story? A baby is born two days after her mother dies. And yes, I can totally hear all of your brains saying, "whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"
British ice skating coach, Jayne Soliman, collapsed due to a brain hemorrhage. She never regained consciousness and was pronounced brain dead shortly after. Two days later, a baby is born thanks to doctors who quickly decided to keep the mother on life support to give the infant a chance at life.
Aya Jayne Soliman was born by caesarean section at 26 weeks and weighed just 2lb and 11oz at birth. There's a smaller miracle in this story because British law states that a baby can be aborted up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.
As well stated by Mike Judge, head of Communications at The Christian Institute in the United Kingdom, "The story illustrates that a baby in a womb is alive, and its life is precious."
Is that not the most beautiful story of 2009 thus far? Wow!
